According to Chertoff that was one of the reasons for the delay in getting federal aid to Katrina victims was that “everyone” thought the crisis had passed when the storm left: I have to wonder what papers the Chertoff household gets because not one newspaper in the US made this remark.

LAW ENFORCEMENT:

I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The stupid mayor of New Orleans is blaming everyone he can but himself. He’s totally inept!!
To even call in the National Guard takes 72 hrs just for them to get to their unit, additional time to check vehicles and equipment, more time to load supplies and even more time to travel to the area. That takes a minimum of 5 days….

Of course, if you really believe we can get troops deployed in another country in 8 to 15 hours–without weeks or months– of PLANNING, I guess all I can say is this:
